Paralegal

Susie Rios is a paralegal at Barrington Injury Attorneys, where she supports the firm's personal injury practice. Her experience includes assisting attorneys at both plaintiff and defense firms throughout the Chicago area. Over the years, she has worked on a variety of personal injury matters and developed experience with different stages of the legal process, including pre-litigation, litigation, trial, and appellate proceedings.

Susie's legal career began in 2016 when she worked as an office manager and legal assistant for a plaintiff's employment law firm. While assisting an attorney with cases involving wrongful termination, she discovered how meaningful it was to help people pursue justice. That experience encouraged her to continue her education and pursue a career as a paralegal. While working at the firm, she enrolled in the Paralegal Certificate program at the College of DuPage, completing her certification in 2018.

Since then, Susie has supported attorneys handling a broad range of personal injury cases, including medical malpractice, birth injuries, wrongful death, sexual abuse and harassment, motor vehicle accidents, trucking accidents, nursing home litigation, dog bites, and premises liability. Her experience with both plaintiff and defense practices has allowed her to develop a broader understanding of personal injury litigation. She finds her work particularly rewarding when she can contribute to helping injured individuals and their families obtain favorable results.

Before entering the legal field, Susie pursued her interests in the performing arts. She earned an Associate of Arts degree from Moraine Valley Community College in 2007 and studied Musical Theatre Performance at Columbia College Chicago in 2011. She later became a certified ballroom dance instructor and spent five years teaching professionally before transitioning to the legal profession.

During her time as a ballroom dance instructor at Arthur Murray Dance Studio Chicago, Susie participated in Dancing with Chicago Celebrities, a fundraising event supporting breast cancer causes. In 2013, she and her dance partner, former Chicago Bears player Anthony Adams, won the competition.

Outside of her professional responsibilities, Susie enjoys spending time with her son and watching him discover the world around him. She also enjoys dancing, reading, biking, and watching documentaries.
